February, Season Extender

I haven't posted much lately.  I have no idea why.  NO motivation to do so, honestly. Stuck in a snowdrift perhaps...

We've had a few breaks in the ice storms, freezing temps and mega snowfall (normal pass weather finally!) and have been out and about around the neighborhood.  Though last week we had over 3 feet of snow in about 4 days, another highway closure, and a small dose of cabin fever. Mae and I have been enjoying our outings.  It's so pretty!! And it will extend the snowboard/ski season!  Hooray!

I finished the '30 day Yoga Challenge with Adriene'...it did take me 43 days, but I did it and am now completely sold on yoga.  What about you??

Two songs on my mp3 player, on repeat:

I am a Rock  Give it a listen...."I have my books, and my poetry to protect me"
I never noticed what a dark song it really is.  But I LOVE it.

And the Jerry Douglas, Mumford & Sons cover of The Boxer .  It's simply fabulous.

And your February??  How is it?  Possibly no one is enjoying it as much as Mae.

  1. I think I am enjoying it more than Mae, we are having perfect running weather. What do you wear to go adventure around in all that snow? Snow boots?

  2. Yes, I have a pair of snow boots and they are great, I also have a pair of snowshoes which I can not stand! but mostly I've been wearing a pair of knee high, fitted rubber boots! they are fantastic. no snow gets in and they have a great tread. step in , step out! :) Horrible weather here, snow, then another ice storm!! highway closed last night and has not reopened. then it turned to rain. what a mess! Super high avalanche danger so the road probably won't reopen until tomorrow. sigh.

  3. Again, az over here, so no understanding of the elements. When the weather is that bad, are you literally snowed into your own home??

  4. No, actually, our home is never really sowed in because my husband really works that snowblower, and we are literally across the street from the DOT building where they house the plows and blowers! So the neighborhood gets plowed as do the others. About 3-4 "neighorhoods" the ski areas and then a commercial area with a hotel, two convenience stores and a couple of restaurants and teh brewery are along the state road. But when the "road" closes it's actually Interstate 90. it's the only main road to get you on or off the mountain in winter and it's one of only a few cross state highways. It's still closed westbound (toward Seattle) this morning too :( I forget what they say about commerce but millions of dollars lost/day when it's closed. My husb was able to get off westbound in a convoy this morning at least! Mae and I were just out walking around in the ice....Hey I noticed that Jack and Jill BQ marathon I sent you the link to is SOLD OUT for 2017!

  5. All I saw in all of that was brewery lol. How close is the brewery to your house? Do you visit there often?

  6. It's only 2 miles. i've actually hiked up there from here and have run home! It's a great community gathering place and Ed and I have met so many people there that we would not have gotten to know otherwise. Like minded, beer drinkers and outdoor enthusiasts! :)

  7. What's the name of the brewery, I wonder if we get their beer down here :)

  8. I wish you did! But nope, it has a very limited distribution. They just started bottling recently but I don[t think they are available outside of WA state. We did just go to a couple other PNW breweries and I think Pelican brewing, out of Pacific City OR might be distributed down the west coast and into AZ. Do you have a favorite type of beer?

  9. I usually prefer amber craft beer. But i usually like to do sampling to get a taste of everything. We have a brewery in Sedona,az that has a Oak Creek Amber Ale. Prob my overall favorite right now. But I only buy it for special occasions. Normally i drink whatever domestics are on sale lol
